American Aquarium

Although this band has been around touring for years they had very little success until they decided to quit the road and record their album ‘BURN FLICKER DIE’ in 2012. They went to the famous MUSCLE SHOALS studio and brought in their friend and award winning artist Jason Isbell to produce them and the rest is music history.
However, they soon discovered that they weren’t done yet and with the success of their new album found themselves back on the road touring again. As their fan base continued to grow and grow the shows kept getting bigger and bigger. Fast forward to the new album “WOLVES” and now the band just keeps on trucking. Now, over 1000 shows later their still pounding the road.

BackStage360 & the Rocman caught up with them at this year’s KAABOO Festival. I wasn’t particularly familiar with their music at all but was onboard wanting to check these cats out. What caught my attention immediately was their Rootsey Americana feel and musicianship. I remember saying to myself these cats remind me of the sixties era bands like Flying Burrito Brothers and The Band etc.

American Aquarium hail out of North Carolina but their roots are pure Nashville and their sound is true Americana. They were legitimized with the release of “BURN FLICKER DIE” BACK IN 2012 but the newest album “WOLVES” serves notice to all their fansthat they are “NOT DONE YET”.
