Heartland rock & rollers Andrew Leahey & The Homestead are happy to announce a fall tour with Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, as well as a return appearance at the Americana Festival in September. The news arrives as the band’s first single “Little In Love,” makes an impressive debut on national radio, with 15 stations adding the song into rotation. This momentum supports the release of the band’s debut, Skyline in Central Time, on August 5th via Thirty Tigers/Skyline Music.
An album anticipated by fans and fellow artists alike, Leahey and team are excited to play Skyline’s 11 songs live – especially with Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers this fall (dates below).
Andrew says, “I’ve been listening to Roger’s music since 1996. In my opinion, he’s done for the Southwest what Bruce Springsteen has done for New Jersey: eulogized it, mythologized it, and given it a killer soundtrack. Long before I married an Arizona girl and began making yearly trips to Phoenix, I could ‘see’ the state in his songs. The guy is absolute icon of independent rock & roll. It’ll be an honor to share the stage with him.”
As the release date draws near, the album continues to gain praise. Dan Reed of Philadelphia’s WXPN says, “This is meat and potatoes rock and roll,” while hit songwriter Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three elaborates, “It’s like early Wilco met the Heartbreakers at a bar in LA in the early ’90s, had some drinks, hopped in a Delorean and had a threesome with the Wild Feathers.”
Leahey, based in Nashville, has musical career that involves battling a life-threatening brain tumor and a taste for music honed by his time spent at the Julliard School — a classical immersion that inspired his reversion to rock & roll.
Skyline In Central Time is an 11-song album written on either side of Andrew’s high-risk operation to remove a tumor from his hearing nerve. The album was recorded in East Nashville and produced by Wilco co-founder Ken Coomer — who plays drums on every track — and shines a light on Andrew’s talent as a singer, lead guitarist, and storyteller.
Full of Les Paul guitar riffs, stacked vocal harmonies, and sweeping organ, these songs nod to Andrew’s influences while still pushing forward, using the city of Nashville — a rapidly-growing place that, like Andrew, has experienced more than a few changes over the past two years — as a backdrop.
Already championed by publications like Rolling Stone, Paste, American Songwriter, and The Boston Globe, Andrew Leahey & the Homestead have built an audience on the strength of a touring schedule that’s taken them from coast to coast, opening for artists like Emmylou Harris and the Wild Feathers along the way.
