The Zombies, one of the most influential and integral bands of the British Invasion, have signed a comprehensive brand representation deal with Artist Legacy Group (“ALG”), it was announced today by ALG COO Scott Austin.
Under the new pact, ALG will coordinate license extension and branding opportunities for The Zombies’ name, likeness, band logo, album artwork and lyrics to their biggest hit singles, including “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No” and “Time of the Season.” This collaboration between The Zombies and ALG coincides with a North American tour this spring in celebration of the 50thanniversary of their second album, Odessey and Oracle, featuring original members Colin Blunstone (vocals), Rod Argent (vocals/organ), Chris White (bass) and Hugh Grundy (drums) performing the album in full.
“The Zombies are one of the most revered bands in rock history,” says Scott Austin, ALG’s Chief Operating Officer. “Their iconic name, imagery, lyrics and song titles have evergreen pop culture relevance and we are honored to work with Colin, Rod and their teams to pursue brand extension opportunities that befit the band’s legendary status.”
“The past few years have been extraordinary in the sense of the incremental growth of interest and appreciation of all things Zombies, and we’re now extremely excited to find ourselves in partnership with Artist Legacy Group, who I know will help immensely in forwarding the development of The Zombies brand,” founding member Rod Argent said.
“The world knows them for their timeless hit songs, but the public is just now discovering the tremendous impact The Zombies have quietly made on music and culture over five decades,” manager Cindy da Silva said. “My partner Chris Tuthill and I have carefully built a wonderful team of professionals to help nurture this amazing rebirth, and we’re thrilled to welcome the creative and business minds of Scott, Ashley and ALG to the family!”
Long considered British rock royalty, The Zombies possess a unique blend of musical sophistication and a chart-topping, artful style. Their debut single “She’s Not There” quickly ascended to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964, and “Tell Her No” reached the Top 10 just months later. The iconic “Time of the Season,” from Odessey and Oracle, also reached No. 3 in 1969, a year after the album’s release and two years after the group disbanded.
Decades later, The Zombies’ baroque, psychedelic pop sound remains unmistakable. The original lineup reunited for a special performance in 1997, and Blunstone and Argent have recorded several Zombies albums since 2004. Their classic early works continue to be discovered by new generations; “She’s Not There” resides at No. 297 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, while Odessey and Oracle ranks at No. 100 on the magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
