Ronnie King has to be one of the most versatile people in the music industry. He is highly capable of doing many things both on stage and behind the scenes. Not only does he excel all around and is a dream to work with. If you go to his website: RonnieKingOfficial.com you will find a list of some of his accomplishments.
Mr. King is a Multi-platinum, Oscar and Grammy nominated, Diamond Certified ( more than 10 million units) producer, composer, arranger, musician and philanthropist. Collaborations include: Mariah Carey, Tyrese, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, The Offspring & Rancid and most recently reggae bands Steel Pulse and Pepper. How’s that for variety?
In fact, at the time of our interview which took place at NAMM Ronnie King was up for yet another Grammy. This time for Best Reggae Album with Steel Pulse, a band who has been around for over 45 years. This album entitled “Mass Manipulation” was the first release from Steel Pulse in 15 years. King played keyboards and contributed to the writing of this piece.
Steel Pulse just headlined The One Love Festival in long Beach, CA along with just about every Reggae band you can think of.
This interview took place at NAMM and at this was the first NAMM King had been to in 10 years. I asked him if he had a keyboard sponsor and he said he did not, but was on his way over to talk with some companies. Well, I am happy to report that he has received an endorsement from Artesia pro , Besides the keyboards, he will be trying out a mobile recording system that comes in a backpack.. King will be using the mobile recording unit to record the artists, Pacho & Gia in Costa Rico sometime this year.
A lot of interviews at NAMM get crashed and this one was no exception, at the end of this interview, we were joined our mutual friend Sean Lenhoff. King and Lenhoff have a long standing work relationship and friendship are working together on some projects that we will be covering in an upcoming interview. Sean Michael Lenhoff has three bands he sings with, Atom Flower, Core 10 and a new project in development called M3CHANZM (Mechanical Mechanism) which is a Nine Inch Nails meets Rammstein. We will keep you posted on all these projects and in the meantime check out the interview!
