When you think of Las Vegas you probably think of iconic hotels, extravagant nightlife, and the phrase: “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” As a music fan your mind wanders to some of the more famous musicians who have taken up “residency.” Performers like Elton John, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey have all had long running shows in Vegas.
Maybe you’re one of the many fans that make the trek to Vegas to catch their favorite rockers passing through. Bands like Guns and Roses playing The Colosseum, and Five Finger Death Punch at The Hard Rock are among the acts in town this November. Tickets range in price from affordable to crazy expensive.
There’s a little-known scene that most have never heard of and it costs absolutely NADA!
Every year beginning in May, Downtown Vegas throws a party in the streets and all are invited. The party is called The Fremont Street Experience Free Concert Series. In past years there have been multiple stages with multiple acts. This year, alone, bands Good Charlotte, Nelly, Sugar Ray, Fuel, Buckcherry, Cheap Trick, and more rolled in and performed for one night.
On Saturday October 19, the rolling party known as Muddfest showed up and did their thing “on the street.” Rockers Saliva, Trapt, Saving Abel, and Tantric all took the stage in support of headliner, Puddle of Mudd. Puddle is touring in support of their fifth studio album Welcome to Galvania. Welcome is their first full-length studio album since 2009. According to the fans, Mudd’s new album is long overdue!
The event was well coordinated with food and drink vendors within 50 yards in every direction, so no rocker went hungry or thirsty during the show.
The Fremont Street Experience Free Concert Series is a great way to spend a Saturday night and a fantastic excuse to get out to Sin City!
