After 50 consecutive years of touring, you’d think Chicago, the legendary rock band with horns, would be slowing down. You’d be wrong.
This summer they’re playing full houses from coast to coast, and they average over 110 concerts a year. The show is over two hours long. The crowds go crazy!
Just a few recent reviews:
Tom Cuddy, Program Director WOR/iHeart Radio, New York, NY;
At 50 years in, Chicago still works harder and has more fun than some of the younger acts of today. At Jones Beach, they delivered a high energy, 2 hour & 15 min greatest hits set before a sold out crowd of about 15,000 fans, many of which were well under 50 years old! They pumped out 30 songs featuring vocals that were as pristine as ever and brass instrumentation that was as impeccable as the original recordings.
WFUV Radio in New York: We were “blown away” by how good it was. Everything about the performance, the music obviously, their showmanship, relating to their audience and non-stop stamina was exemplary. I was thinking as I watched their show, how some younger bands I’ve seen recently could benefit from watching just how you do it.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Chicago spent the evening doing what it does best: rolling through its deep catalog of hits, and delivering a powerful, dynamic performance as the horn players and guitarists roamed freely on the two-tiered stage.
The Oakland Press: Chicago’s musicianship was as stellar as it’s ever been.
Houston Press: Chicago burst onto the stage as if they had something to prove, even though the band was founded a full half-century ago. The fact is, as classic rockers age and newer generations come to the music, it’s the music that survives. But tonight, it also thrived.
Creative Loafing Tampa Bay: Chicago, the jazz and rock band, started their set off strong with a full instrument band that encompassed the sultry vibes of the Windy City. The four vocalists perfectly harmonized every song, but each band member took their turn to sing lead vocals. Chicago proved that performing is truly their passion by not leaving the stage until 11:00 p.m. (thank you for your generosity, guys) and by the large crowd that rocked out the whole night.
CBS Radio Boston: It just might have been the best concert I’ve seen in my 30 years in radio.
Digital Journal: One of the BEST concerts I reviewed this year!!! Simply amazing/divine. Chicago performed at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island, for an excellent turnout, and their show was simply “inspirational” and phenomenal. If anybody has yet to see Chicago live in concert, they are truly missing out, as they put one of the best live spectacles of 2017. Chicago’s concert at Jones Beach garnered five out of five stars. Congratulations.
As Chicago celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2017, their talent and musicianship have only gotten better with every year. With recent inductions into the Grammy Hall Of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, these guys are on a roll!
