Dario Mollo’s CROSSBONES’ new release Rock The Cradle is one of those albums that you can listen to on repeat and it’ll still feel new each cycle. I wasn’t sure how to classify Dario’s production style at first; it seemed to be all over the place, but as you listen to the album front to back the cohesiveness of the production begins to take place…and you get lost in the smooth transitions of this part Blues Rock, part Melodic Rock, part Heavy Metal, part Classic Rock themed album.
Dario Mollo first started his career with CROSSBONES 35 years ago and decided to bring back the original drummer for this album, Ezio Secomandi, an Italian native living in the Bronx. He happily involved himself with his old pal and, along with former KROKUS singer, Carl Sentence, whom Dario glees is “Easily one of the best singers I have ever worked with,” and bassist and keyboards by Dario Patti, created the powerhouse of what became Dario Mollo’s CROSSBONES.
Mollo is obsessed with perfection, insisting on being involved with the production of every album since his first studio album in 1989. Taking notes from Kit Woolven (UFO, Thin Lizzy, and others), Dario paved his own path creating his own Studio, producing and engineering many albums, before deciding to get back to performing on his own album. Rock The Cradle is the album Dario has been waiting to start with. I say start because this appears to be a new project as Dario, speaking about Carl and the rest of the guys, said, “I am certain our cooperation will not end with this cd!”
