Last week Backstage360 was fortunate enough to witness Dream Theater perform its newest album “THE ASTONISHING” in its entirety. To say that this incredible band is a favorite of mine would be an understatement. This incredible new album was performed to its absolute perfection in its entirety. Because of the fact that it’s a double album there was a considerable break between Acts 1 and 2 giving everyone a chance to stretch their legs and refresh their drinks. It also gave me a chance to walk around and speak to concert goers to see what they thought so far and wasn’t surprised to hear that they loved it.
This band has been creating Progressive Rock albums for a long time and, “THE ASTONISHING” is no different. Since their early days as students at the prestigious Berklee College of Music their focus has been to push the envelope as far as they could. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that this most recent album “THE ASTONISHING” is their most ambitious endeavor yet.
