1986 brought us Flotsam and Jetsam’s debut record Doomsday and the Deceiver. Here we are rocking into 2019 with yet another bombastic deliverance from Flotsam and Jetsam with their latest creation, The End Of Chaos….or is it? I for one sure hope not, because this is a monster record and I want to hear even more.
Imagine the year 1987 with a night on the mean streets of Hollywood in the books and you are safely home, eating Naguals or some other vat of grease to help absorb the evening’s festivities. I’d flip on the telly to watch Headbangers Ball to hopefully catch a Flotsam and Jetsam video or two. All so yum!
Their latest release, The End of Chaos, drives, digs and pushes nothing but power all the way through. AK’s vocals are as strong as ever, the guitar riffs throughout the tracks are equally as impressive. Not to be out powered by the octane of the rhythm section. The killer bass licks and larger than life drums bring the whole package together.
There are artists that you go to your favorite streaming or media site to grab a tune or two here and there, well this is opposite of that. The End Of Chaos tells a story, yeah, even in metal there are amazing stories, and for this piece you will want to hear all 12 tracks just as they are laid down. You will want to hear them again and again too! This is the kind of record that makes this girl say: “In your face, FACE”! Right from the get go, they had me hook, line and sinker. In case you missed it, I was all the way in, excited to listen to each and every song. They do not take a track off. The entire record is solid, titanium solid. I could go on and on but I already did.
This is the bands 12th studio recording, with numerous singles also available for your listening pleasure. The current line up is as follows:
Eric “AK” Knudson – Lead Vocals
Michael Gilbert – Guitars
Michael Spencer – Bass
Steve Conley – Guitars
Ken Mary – Drums
Flotsam & Jetsam come to us by way of Phoenix Arizona, formed in 1981. The lineup while changing along the way currently holds two original members with lead vocalist, Eric “AK” Knutson in from the beginning to current, and Michael Gilbert, guitars,1981 through mid-1999, and rejoining in 2010. We are happy to report these two remain firmly in place.
2013 brought the addition of bassist Michael Spencer also an earlier member, and guitarist Steve Conley. 2017 was the year the current lineup was complete as Ken Mary, drummer, joined the crew. They have come together like a long awaited waft of leather and sweat filling the air.
They will be touring extensively in Europe and the US in 2019 for all of us to enjoy. Stop by their website to check out all things Flotsam and Jetsam including tour dates and while you are there pick up the new release The End Of Chaos.
I will leave you with the task of wrapping your ears around all of this goodness for yourselves.
