With presence in 70 countries, Hard Rock International, owner of one of the world’s most recognized hospitality brands, proudly announces Hard Rock Hotel New York. Slated to open late Spring 2019, the new-build, 445-room Hard Rock Hotel New York will soon rise on 48(th) street between 7(th) Ave. and Avenue of the Americas. The area, previously known as Music Row, was once a musical mecca and one-stop-shop for rock legends, such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and the Stones, as well as aspiring artists. The upcoming Hard Rock Hotel New York will breathe new life into Music Row and recapture the legacy of this historic location
“We’re both proud and eager to showcase the Hard Rock Hotels experience in New York City, a destination whose spirit and limitless energy aligns perfectly with our brand,” says Hamish Dodds, chief executive officer at Hard Rock International. “With Hard Rock Hotel New York being an entirely new build project, we are able to develop a hotel with customized amenities and programming that will deliver a one of a kind music experience tailored for New York City.”
Bringing a reinvented, music-focused hotel experience to New York, the upcoming Hard Rock Hotel will honor the City’s musical and cultural heritage with live music events and artist-inspired design elements. With Hard Rock International’s standing as curators of the world’s largest and most priceless music memorabilia collection, the hotel’s design will feature museum-like displays adorning the walls. Memorabilia for the hotel will be carefully selected with a focus on contemporary artists who call New York home, as well as iconic musicians and pivotal moments in history that have shaped the city’s undisputed musical legacy.
“Times Square is synonymous with music and pop culture, from Broadway to the Brill Building, from live clubs to instrument stores on 48(th) Street’s Music Row. Through many decades of change in Times Square, this block has always been about music; a place where locals, visitors and musical celebrities mixed as they shopped for the latest instruments and music hours before their live gig. In short, never has a hotel been so perfectly situated; the imminent arrival of Hard Rock Hotel New York is music, not only to our ears, but to the ears of music lovers around the world,” said Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance.
In addition to musical experiences at every turn, Hard Rock Hotel New York will feature a vibrant welcoming lobby, complete with signature restaurant and lounge, as well as lobby bar. The upcoming Hard Rock Hotel New York’s rooftop oasis will soon be a local hotspot, as guests soak up the sun or dance the night away while enjoying unmatched views of Times Square’s bright lights and the bustling atmosphere that surrounds the iconic Rockefeller Center. Programming for the hotel’s rooftop also calls for day and evening activities, ranging from artist sessions and DJ sets, to events featuring some of the most influential artists and celebrities. With no shortage of leisure and entertainment offerings, plans for Hard Rock Hotel New York call for a stylish and upscale underground speakeasy. The swank tavern will capture the essence of New York City’s music subculture and entice both locals and travelers.
Keeping in line with Hard Rock tradition, the Hotel will feature amenities and programs exclusive to the brand, including an invigorating Rock Spa featuring the revolutionary Rhythm & Motion spa menu offering modernized, music-infused Swedish massage practices and treatments. Guests will also enjoy firsthand music experiences through the signature Sound of Your Stay® music amenity program, allowing for Fender guitar and DJ-equipment rental delivered in-room for impromptu jam sessions. Additionally, guests will enjoy access to the Body Rock workout facility and Rock Shop, where guests can purchase the brand’s classic merchandise.
The upcoming Hard Rock Hotel New York is being developed in collaboration with the New York based Extell Development Company.
“Hard Rock’s Hotel & Casino expansion strategy demands dynamic and knowledgeable developers, such as Gary Barnett and the Extell group, and we look forward to seeing the project flourish with their expertise,” says Marco Roca, executive vice president of global hotel development at Hard Rock International. “The opening of Hard Rock Hotel New York, along with the completion of properties in Berlin and Dubai, as well as soon to be announced projects in other major gateway cities, present a huge milestone for the brand and further solidify its standing as a global hotel collection.”
