Jackyl’s 25th Anniversary Year Tour

Another great evening at the Legends Event Park in Chickasha Oklahoma. It was going to be a fun filled evening with lots of great entertainment and comradery.

The show started with the opening acts Ol’ Dixie Wrecked and Locus Grove. Both bands did a marvelous job getting the crowd warmed up and the atmosphere ready for Jackyl to take the stage. I personally had never seen Jackyl before and had no idea what I was in for but I was excited to find out because I had heard from many people that the band is great and the show is a lot of fun. One thing that is making this particular tour very special is that it is Jackyl’s 25th Year anniversary. Wow…25 Years is a long time.

The band made their appearance on stage and Front Man/Lead Vocalist Jesse James Dupree walked out carrying a bottle of his American Outlaw Bourbon whiskey with him. The crowd cheered and was excited to get this show rolling and let me tell you it was a hell of a show. He interacted with the audience and had them sing along with his songs and he also told jokes between almost every song he played. The jokes were not child proof but they were funny and made everybody in the audience crack up laughing. Jesse James Dupree has so much energy and he is a performer by heart. I could have watched him all night long and everybody who had told me that I would love the show truly didn’t lie. I enjoyed every second of it.

At the end of the concert Jesse had a chain saw and a chair brought to him which I was wondering what he was going to do with it. The band broke into the Hit Song “The Lumberjack” which apparently uses a chainsaw throughout the song and was amazing to watch how it was incorporated into the music. Towards the end of the song Jesse then cut a bar stool into pieces which was brought front and center to the stage. It was just a different kind of entertainment than what I expected but it was the perfect mix of humor and juvenile angst that made this night special.  There was plenty of great music and irreverent moments to make this a very memorable show that will not be forgotten. And most importantly, Jackyl made me a Fan.
