A young singer songwriter from Mission Viejo, California, Karly Moreno is known for her recent success on the hit TV show The Voice. (Season 16.) Her style is pop rock and she does some country as well.
Karly comes from musical family that fully supports her passion for music, she’s been singing ever since she can remember giving performance to her family using their couch as her stage. Karly’s mom was a singer in a band called Syren and was a huge influence on Karly as was her uncle. Holiday’s were always filled with family jams.
Karly remembers watching The Voice thinking she could never go on the show, that she would be too nervous, but as she matured, she found her courage and it traded in the family couch for the big stage. The process was tedious and she was scared and nervous, but went for it anyways and it paid off. Her audition was a success and she was chosen to work with Adam Levine as her coach on the show.
In addition to singing Karly skateboards and surfs. She began playing guitar at age 11 and released her first single in 2014 entitled “ My Soul”. She is a sweet and caring individual and also has a song that she released for Autism Speaks called “We Rock the Spectrum” Her first EP was released in 2018. She is ready to record her next record as soon as this pandemic subsides, prior to the pandemic she was performing weekly performances locally.
Karly performed live at the world famous Coach House for an Alert the Globe world wide live stream event. Just her, her guitar and no band. Joining her onstage was Sam Woolf and his guitar who was a top 5 contestant on American Idol. Sam and Karly took turns playing cover tunes each playing a song or two and then switching back and forth. At the end they sang and played a few songs together, something that they have never done together before. In fact, these two had just met that night. Their managers set up the plan and these two are professionals and it all came together in an amazing way. Those who tuned in were treated to a very special performance. They did quite a few cover tunes along with a few originals each making this truly its own performances.
If you missed it, you are in luck because it was recorded and you can watch it for free at Alerttheglobe.com. It’s free to watch, but you can tip the artists by paypal.
Both artists were wonderful, with strong vocals, but when they did their duets real magic happened. I’d love to see these two take their act on the road and do a full tour as a duet before going their own ways on their career.
Both Karly and Sam have powerful and passionate voices, these two clearly love music and to listening to them, it is easy to hear why they stood out above other candidates auditioning for the shows.
Keep your ears out for these two because they have the talent and passion that it takes to keep moving forward in this age of music and they are also both really humble and likeable with great support. I see a bright future for them together or apart. To follow Karly go to www.karlymoreno.com. and Sam at www.samwoolfmusic.com

SAM WOOLF
Sam Woolf achieved national recognition as a finalist on American Idol’s 13th season where he placed in the Top 5. In the six years since that appearance, he has been able to gather a following of millions on social media. Not just because of that appearance, but also because of his live performances and recordings. His debut EP “Pretend” hit #9 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. He is a “natural singer whose soul and passion are undeniable in every note he sings.” (1) After hearing his performance that night with Karly, I would agree with that assessment. His voice just seems to fit his Martin guitar and the guitar fits his voice. He considers himself as a “2-6 Singer/Songwriter.” His influences include Neil Young, Bob Dylan, John Mayer and Ed Sheeran. Although he does play a few covers his current focus is writing original material. His writing starts with a guitar progression and then drifts into humming a melody over that. If he likes what he hears he then writes the vocals. It is certainly a tried and true formula that works for many artists.
He started writing and playing guitar at the age of 15. After leaving his hometown of Bradenton Florida, he attended the Berklee College of Music. There’s something about that place that just seems to continually crank out great talent. Perhaps it’s just that they are able to nurture and help develop inherent ability. At 17, he received the opportunity to appear on American Idol. As he got to the initial qualifier, he was told what we all are at these kind of events, “Hurry Up and Wait!” Evidently, all that waiting caused him to play his choice of music for the evening (An Ed Sheeran cover) at about 3x the pace. I guess it didn’t hurt his chances because he picked up the “Golden Ticket.”
Even though Sam and Karly had never met before their performance, they sounded like a duo that had been together for many years.
