San Diego’s #1 for New Country, 103.7 KSON celebrated their 32nd Annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon on Thursday, December 5th and Friday, December 6th with the goal to help cure and save children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. They raised just shy of 120,000 dollars for the charity!
The KSON Country Fest Christmas fell the day following the radiothon and served as a celebration of the money raised for this important charity.
The Del Mar Arena at the San Diego County Fairgrounds was turned in to a large open venue with plenty of good seats. There was also vendors selling all your country music fest needs like cowboy hats and big buckles, and of course food vendors and a large bar.
The fest kicked off at 5pm with Hardy, who got his start behind the scenes writing music for bands such as Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton and Chris Lane. Hardy released his EP “This Ole Boy” featuring his hot single “rednecker” in 2018 and then released a full length album, Hixtape vol. 1, in September of 2019 featuring songs he collaborated with other artists on.
Second in the line up was Carly Pearce. This country girl powerhouse delighted fans with her hit singles “Hide The Wine”, “Every Little Thing” and her newest single “Hope Your Happy Now” off her newest self titled album due to release in February 2020.
Third up was Jordan Davis. Davis released his first single “Singles You Up” in 2017 in the spring of 2018 the single hit number one along with the release of his album “Home State”. Soon after the single “Take it From Me” from that a min hit radios and almost a year later it too hit number one. Jordan Davis player both of these songs for fans at KSON Country Fest Christmas along with other tracks from the album and even teased a couple new songs for fans too. Fans also celebrated the birth of Davis’s new daughter with him. Listening to Jordan Davis is always a good time, his upbeat pop influenced jams with the soul of county make you have to get out of your seat. Truly what I call feel good music.
Headlining the event was Kip Moore. This singer/song written hit our ears back in 2012 with the album “Up All Night” featuring “Something About a Truck” which, of course, he played here at KSON Country Fest Christmas. He also played songs from his second studio album “Wild Ones” and he latest album “Slowheart” which he produced the majority of himself, released in 2017. He also played “She’s Mine” the first single off the next album set to release in the new year. There is no mistaking this guys gritty country sound. Kip Moore brings a fresh yet classic take to modern country and is truly a great performer.
Overall KSON Country Fest Christmas, while not very Christmasy at all, was a great show. The performers all really shined and the crowd are up every minute of it. If you missed this one mark your calendars for Country Fest 2020 on Saturday, June 20 at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.
