LiveXLive Media, Inc. (OTC: LIVX) (“LiveXLive”), one of the only premium streaming networks devoted to live music and music-related video content, announced the extension of its partnership with Rock in Rio for an additional three years, through 2021. Under the terms of the extension, LiveXLive will continue as the global live stream partner outside of the Brazil territory for the world’s largest and longest-standing music and entertainment festival. The companies have also agreed to expand the partnership to include audio streaming rights via LiveXLive’s global distribution, including Slacker Radio, a streaming music and personalized radio subscription service.
Since the inception of the partnership with Rock in Rio in 2015, LiveXLive has produced and live streamed some of the world’s biggest artists around the globe, including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Maroon5, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Shawn Mendes, Thirty Seconds to Mars, among others, from locations such as Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, and a first-ever event from the Amazon’s Rio Negro, which officially launched Rock in Rio’s social-environmental project Amazonia Live. Since 2016, Amazonia Live has been helping to raise millions of dollars to reforest the Amazon, an effort that received Conservation International’s Global Conservation Hero award. LiveXLive’s recent live stream of Rock in Rio 2017 garnered more than 6.5 million views (3.3 million unique viewers) at an average 18 consecutive minutes, with the VOD content having been watched by tens of millions of people.
“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with the world’s biggest and most respected music and entertainment festival,” said Robert Ellin, founder and CEO of LiveXLive. “This announcement comes at a time when we are actively securing several other long-term music festival rights. These events will be the basis of our annual programming calendar for years to come and provide music fans around the world unparalleled access to premium video content.”
“Rock in Rio is a brand with global reach that has been delivering quality entertainment beyond the borders of the 4 countries where the festival has been held, for 32 years. We chose LiveXLive to be our media partner in the world’s main entertainment market because its’ concern for the production and broadcast quality reflects the same level of quality we promote in the onsite experience for the audience attending the festival,” said Luis Justo, CEO of Rock in Rio.
