George Lynch has always been a great songwriter & guitarist. Even though the first couple of Lynch Mob albums were picked apart by rock critics they all had to admit that the Lynch Mob was the real deal.
Mr. Scary is at it again. Just caught up with one of my guitar idols, Mr. Scary himself, George Lynch. I’ve been a fan of Mr. Scary since the first time I heard him play with XCITER. Once he joined Dokken with Don Dokken, Mick Brown, and Jeff Pilson the flood gates opened fast.
Worldwide success soon followed and made George Lynch one of the most influential rock guitarists in modern music Eventually earning the band a Grammy nomination in 1989 for Best Rock Instrumental. It was also the year the George parted ways with Dokken and began the new decade with a different approach…enter the Lynch Mob.
George has stayed busy with a plethora of projects. Both solo albums and super groups with other artists. His newest Lynch Mob album, SUN RED SUN, is no different. His subsequent tour is has a lineup consisting of George Lynch, Oni Logan, Jimmy D’Anda, and Sean McNabb. To say that this lineup is great would be an understatement. From the moment they hit the stage it was apparent they meant business. The musicianship was amazing, tight and forceful. The crowd was mostly an “80’s crowd” but believe it or not, there were a lot of youngsters in attendance as well. Dokken fans were everywhere at the HOB and were screaming song titles of their favorite Dokken Hits all night.
I can let you know that the original Band DOKKEN had announced a small reunion tour consisting of eight shows. One show in America at Badlands Pawn in South Dakota and then off to Japan for seven shows. Lynch Mob will resume touring in November and are already booking shows for 2017. I did speak to some of the guys in Dokken reunion tour and they were all excited to participate in the short tour stating that “Japan was a blast.”
George is also recording with two other bands. In January of 2015 he released the album Sweet Lynch featuring Michel Sweet of STRYPER. In July, George released the album SHADOW TRAIN which is the sound track of his forth coming documentary film SHADOW NATION. Currently George is working on album title “Infidels” featuring Angelo Moore, (FISHBON) Chris Moore and Pancho Tomaselli of PHILM. He’s also due to release the new Lynch Mob album “Sun Red Sun” later this year.
George Lynch is always evolving as a musician and.
Also check out George’s band “KXM” with Dug Pinnick of KingsX and Ray Luzier of Korn. This band is smoking hot!
George Lynch defines the name Mr. Scary as he continues to evolve as a guitar player and songwriter. We can only hope that he never stops writing and recording. If you’re a fan of either Lynch Mob or Dokken or any of the other bands George is part of check out his discography on his website
