Mixologi, the lifestyle brand and global music site, is excited to announce the official launch of its geography-based music discovery platform, powered by Google.
Mixologi Founder/CEO Aaron Dolores wants to make discovering global music easier, regardless of your location. “We are always looking for ways to make what’s global, local, and to share local music globally,” he said. “With this new feature, we are able to help people discover regionally-specific curated music, simply by clicking on a country or location and exploring the work of artists from that area.”
Helping Americans discover global music is not the only purpose of this feature, Dolores told us. “There has always been important music being made in all parts of the world, but the world has never been so connected – we want to help people in Hong Kong discover what’s happening in Oakland and in Pittsburgh and vice versa, so the concept works both ways. It’s really a platform for exchange with global content.”
There is a huge travel element to this new feature. Given that millennials do a ton of research on local customs and culture prior to traveling, this feature will serve as a one-stop shop for what’s happening in a destination’s music scene. It aims to help the Mixologi community ‘know before they go’, when it comes to what’s hot where they’re headed.
Mixologi is not simply turning on this search feature, it’s also kicking off the launch by delivering a series of premium content that tells intriguing stories from Colombia to Zimbabwe, using video, articles, and photo journalism.
