Gene Baker (b3 Guitars) – Jon Mulvey (3G Guitars) – Justin Emord (Fender)

On day three of NAMM, team photographer, Bill Towner and I had the joy of sitting down with San Francisco bay area based, professional musician and 3G Guitar designer and manufacturer, Jon Mulvey, to talk about his beautiful instruments and the technology behind them that makes them so unique. Jon’s “Performer” takes design, sound and performance technology to new heights by combining an ergonomic design of a neck-thru instrument with the deep, full vibration of bolt-on guitars. His vision and design remove the need to switch out instruments during a performance, makes traveling, touring and gig setup simpler and less stressful and time consuming.

Each instrument is handcrafted and designed for ease of performance with countless rhythmic possibilities.  The “Performer” is made to order, with a 6 – 8-week turnaround time, in a variety of colors and finishes. 3G Guitars will also custom make your instrument upon request.  Please contact Jon and 3G Guitars directly for more information and pricing.

Born in Los Angeles, Jon is a professional musician, writer, composer, session player, producer and band leader who started playing guitar at the age of seven. He moved to the Bay Area to study classical music composition at San Francisco State University and was under the tutelage of the great Joe Satriani for three years.

If that is was not enough contribution to the music industry, Jon also plays in his own band, Jon Mulvey’s Rockethouse, a unique cover band and is a member of San Francisco based, Vortex Tribe, is the CEO of Two Hearts Entertainment and in 2010 released a solo CD, “This and That”, that is currently available for purchase on CD Baby.

Keeping up with Jon and his professional contributions to the music industry is easy as he is readily found on many social media, music service and video streaming sites by searching “Jon Mulvey Musician”.  Watch our interview below with Jon for more technical information on 3G Guitars and the “Performer” along with a short musical demonstration.
