Honolulu says Mahalo to Love the Sea Benefit Concert

Big Daddy Carlos, a Hollywood and Las Vegas music mogul, restaurateur, and promoter will present the first annual Ocean Aid benefit concert on Sunday, April 30th, 2017 at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii. Also serving as co-executive producer, alongside Big Daddy, is Hank Cohen.  Cohen is currently the CEO of Trifecta Entertainment and is a former ABC Specials executive who was at the network when it aired the groundbreaking benefit concert, Live Aid.

An impressive lineup of Emmy-winning funk, reggae and hip hop performers are scheduled to perform including, CeeLo Green, Bootsy Collins, Ohio Players, Grandmaster Flash, Maxi Priest, Fishbone, Henry Kapono and much more. The event will benefit Love the Sea a 501(c)3 charitable organization designed to raise awareness and help free the oceans of plastics and other pollutants. Big Daddy Carlos and Ava Berman founded Love the Sea in 2016.
Love the Sea is primarily funded by individual and corporate donations.

Next month’s Love the Sea’s premier fundraising concert event will set the stage for the non-profit’s future activities which include education, marine research and conservation programs. Love the Sea will hold other events throughout the year to raise funds to benefit and save the ocean from pollution.  Additionally, Love the Sea plans to create a scholarship program to help deserving students take their first step toward becoming advocates in saving the world’s oceans by keeping them free of plastics and other pollutants.

“It’s imperative that the action we take and the awareness we create becomes a common practice as opposed to ignorance or denial,” said Cee Lo Green one of the concert’s performers. “We must realize we don’t have the luxury of choice in this matter. A solution must be found and I’m proud to be a part of making that a reality,” added Green. Award winning Green is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and businessman, known for his worldwide hit “Crazy”.  Green also appeared as a judge alongside fellow music industry figures Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on the Emmy Award winning show, The Voice.

With 10,000 attendees projected to attend, performers to date include:

Ocean Aid co-creators Ava Berman and Big Daddy Carlos, who is also the executive producer of the April 30th concert event and CEO of Love the Sea, released the following statement.

“By 2050 scientists estimate there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Currently 5.25 trillion pieces of trash and plastic destroy our oceans.  The reason for forming Love the Sea is to educate and where necessary legislate, so that we can keep our oceans alive and love the sea, plastic-free.  When an endangered sea turtle that should live for 100 years, dies painfully over the course of two weeks because of ingesting plastics, this is unforgiveable. We need to act to save our fish, birds, turtles, and other endangered species including whales and seals.  The time for change in our oceans is now.”
