There are no current local live events yet to tell you about, but I found some new online material to share with you. Current concerts are being rescheduled for later in the year, keeping fingers crossed. I have debated about whether or not to keep publishing during this time, but I have decided I will as long as I can find new material for you. It also gives me an opportunity to reach out and be social with you, albeit at a distance! So hello out there!! All we can do is take each day as it comes, hopefully with a smile. We always have a choice in our reactions. Life does go on and we must find the joy and the laughter wherever we can. I confess, I spent hours one afternoon roaming the world on Google Earth. It was remarkably distracting and soothing.
The San Diego Food Bank is in continuous need of volunteers and donations as they help so many more people during this difficult time, including the children who are not in school now. If you are in any way able to help those less fortunate, please do so. The San Diego Food Bank can squeeze 5 meals out of every dollar so every dollar you can spare will help keep the Food Bank feeding people of all ages. http://www.sandiegofoodbank.org/
Remember to support our local restaurants too if you can, in hopes they will still be here when we are able to once again break bread together. At this writing, some easing of the stay-at-home order is in process. I suggest you call wherever you want to go for the most current update and schedules. As you know, normally Mother’s Day would be a big restaurant day so there may be a push for this. Some venues are posting live music in May. This may be too optimistic, definitely call first.
Check out BackStage360, the online music magazine that also publishes this newsletter. There are a lot of concerts, videos and interviews. www.BackStage360.com.

I have not seen them myself this year, but the Carlsbad Flower Fields should still be in bloom for a little longer. When open, they would typically stay open through Mother’s Day. www.theflowerfields.com
The Landings in Carlsbad is showing the live bands cancelled through mid-May but again that may just be optimism. Check their website or call for current updates. www.carlsbadlandings.com
Cruisin’ Grand in Escondido has postponed the start of the Friday night cruising season until the County gives the all clear. www.cruisingrand.com
The San Diego County Fair and Gator by the Bay have been cancelled. There is nothing listed at www.sandiego.org.

Here is a link to a free, downloadable activity book. It’s called ‘Art Is Where the Home Is’ and the idea is that every project can fit on a single sheet of paper, and you won’t need any special materials. https://firstsite.uk/art-is-where-the-home-is/ The activities are a bit more involved than dot-to-dots or coloring: one task involves making a daisy chain of people, while another task creates an album cover. The ideas are mostly aimed at children but don’t let that stop you.

Learn new dance moves: London’s most famous dance theatre, the legendary Sadler’s Wells, has had its entire program suspended until at least the end of June. Fortunately, it’s opening up its substantial digital vaults during the current crisis through new streaming platform Digital Stage. It’ll be screening archive performances, special one-offs and dance workshops aimed at a variety of ages, from a family workout for ages two-to-six to classes for the over-sixties. https://www.sadlerswells.com/whats-on/2020/digital-stage/

Mind Valley: If you are thinking of pursuing any personal development during this time, I can recommend Mind Valley. The founder, Vishen Lakhiani, wrote the book The Code of the Extraordinary Mind. Mind Valley is the largest educational platform on the internet with something for everyone interested in growth. Mind Valley is giving away some of their programs during this time, including their program for helping parents and teachers work more effectively with children. www.mindvalley.com
Marisa Peer, one of the teachers on Mind Valley, regularly posts free videos on You Tube (which is another great resource). She has posted a free meditation on strengthening immunity on her website www.marisapeer.com.
Quote for the day: It is not what happens to you, but how you react to it, that matters. Epictetus, Greek philosopher c 50-135 AD
Another quote: When it rains, look for rainbows; when it is dark, look for stars.
And another quote: When life gives you a hundred reasons to break down and cry, show life that you have a million reasons to smile and laugh. Stay strong.
And one more quote: Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud. Maya Angelou
As always, feel free to forward this to anyone who may appreciate it. Today, and always, I send blessings of love and laughter to all! May you all stay safe and healthy and well!
Mahalo,
Annette 🙂
