Pet Shark is a progressive rock, instrumental band from Orange County, California. Their first album features Keith Moreland on guitar, Ted Morton on drums, and Matt Bissonette on bass. They’ve been joined by Bassist Russ Reshaw who has played almost all of their live shows.
I spoke with founders Ted Morton and Keith Moreland after the show, and discovered that they may be adding a keyboard player and, dare I say, vocals. But their plan is to remain firmly grounded in their musical roots. A singer in my humble opinion, will take them to the next level.
Since the time of their Coachhouse show, we have learned that the new album will indeed include the addition of keyboards and vocals, but they haven’t made a formal announcement yet as to who will fill those shoes. Our understanding is that they’ve narrowed the field down to a few people. The band is currently working on a new album which is tentatively scheduled for release in Spring/Summer of 2016.
No matter what they do, if you haven’t seen or heard this band before you will be amazed at their music. I for one, can’t wait to see them again. You can keep up with the band on their website www.petsharkband.com, their Pet Shark Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram @petsharkband, or on YouTube at petsharkband.
