Fred’s Blues Chair Blues & Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist, Fred Hostetler
“This is what I call ‘Living Room Blues,’ says Fred Hostetler about his latest album, Fred’s Blue Chair Blues. “Acoustic blues with guitar and vocal. Stripped-down, unplugged, and recorded at home in my living room.Eight original songs and the Jimmy Reed classic “Bright Lights Big City.” Whatever you may think of it, I find it intimate and refreshing during this time of Covid-19 to see artists performing in their kitchen, barn, patio, bedroom, etc. Available for streaming and downloading at Amazon, Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify, CD Baby and wherever original music is sold.
Fred Hostetler is an American musician, author, and songwriter who founded the blues-rock band Blue By Nature along with Karen Lawrence and Rick Dufay (ex-Aerosmith guitarist). Blue By Nature’s albums were a CD-genre jumping Americana romp through the swamp lands of blues-rock and their live shows were highlighted by singer Lawrence’s unique, raspy vocal style. During their heyday, Blue By Nature recorded with famed producer, Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Cheap Trick, Patti Smith, Aerosmith).
I’m astounded that (Hostetler) has managed to hide his light under a bushel for so long…this has been such an exciting find and will be for you too. Gloriously maudlin Back-Porch acoustic Blues…on Corporate Vandals listen to Fred’s insightful and angry words. This song is as contemporary as anything Joe Bonamassa will release this year!”
“An intimate and bracing blues experience…in music, as in so many areas of life, great things can manifest when you’re not paying particular attention, when you just let things happen as they will. That’s the case with Fred’s Blue Chair Blues, something that may not have happened (at least not this well) if Fred had been sweating to put out a perfect record.”
“It’s not enough that he is an accomplished guitarist/musician, talented and creative songwriter. Fred pulls it all together on Fred’s Blue Chair Blues. From the first note you’re Delta-bound. Hostetler’s vocals are heartfelt, soulful. He has that unique musical/human corp that is a personal connect for his fans, a rare commodity in today’s world.”
“Fred’s Blue Chair Blues starts off with a beautiful version of the classic Bright Lights, Big City. Hostetler immediately establishes the intimate nature of the album. One singer, one guitar, and you the audience makes for a great living room experience. I felt as if I were in an old-fashioned shack with a cold beverage enjoying a command performance. Blue Chair Blues might just be as good for your soul as it was for mine.”
