Having begun life in late 1997 in Germany, Primal Fear are one of those bands that I have heard of but have never actually listened to; until now. Since that point in time, I have discovered that this is Primal Fear’s 11th studio album and I am desperate to listen to the previous catalog.
The album starts strong and finishes strong. It hits you hard with ‘Angels of Mercy’ and pumps your adrenal glands throughout the album to the very end with ‘Raving Mad’. All the songs have an 80’s vibe with dual guitar melody lines, nice soloing and singer Ralf Scheepers high vocals. While listening to the album I stumbled onto a track near the middle of the list that I would consider their finest song on this compilation called ‘We Walk Without Fear’. This song has it all, interesting Intro, building into a haunting melody and beautiful Vocals. The song is Brilliant! Other highlights were the songs ‘The Sky is Burning’, ‘Bullets and Tears’ and ‘The End is Near’ which all earned a 4 star rating in my books. And I can’t forget the Metal Anthem ‘In Metal we Trust’. The entire album will have you head banging and raising your fist high in the air.
Should you buy Rulebreaker? If you are already a die-hard Primal Fear fan you probably own this album. If you love 80’s Metal I would check out their previous releases and purchasing this album would be a good start to your Primal Fear collection.
