Shari Puorto’s most recent new album, Live at Bogie’s is proof that not all live albums have to sound like simply a label fulfillment. As someone that in general doesn’t like live albums, Live at Bogies brings Shari’s raw energy smack dab into your music senses. If you close your eyes you can feel her seductive vocals brush by you and demand attention. While her closet may be filled with one of her obsessions, (She should write a song about it!) her voice fills the stage with the power and a presence that is what we hope to find in a live performance. Having been compared to such luminaries as Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi and Melissa Ethridge its not hard to imagine the next upcoming artist to add Shari’s name to that comparison list. While its extremely difficult for any vocalist to maintain their vocal strength after so many years of abuse, Shari’s just seems to be getting stronger. Having know her for over five years, I can attest to this. Comparisons aside, she brings a fresh take on her music while paying homage to those she is compared to and to the roots of Blues / Rock music. As we stated in our review of the inaugural Temecula Blues Festival, “Shari walks out and dazzled the audience with her perfect pitched vocals that launches her ship out on the Bluzzy blue waters to delivers a set of standards and originals that blistered. The Blues Diva captured and held the crowed note for note.” (http://www.backstage360.com/1st-annual-temecula-blues-festival-sells-out/) Well said Pat. Shari will be headlining an upcoming show there on October 27th, 2018 so you may want to get your tickets now.
