Master Creator [Available on Amazon] is the third album for this Power Metal Rock group out of Germany. Sinbreed first appeared on the scene in the US in 2010 with their first release titled When Worlds Collide. In their newest album, this German four piece (along with session guitarist Marcus Siepen (1) combines the dizzying speed of hard core metal with the crunch of 80’s power rock to create a sound that will get your adrenaline levels higher than that near miss accident you had last week.
First taste off Sinbreed’s newest album drew me right in with those heavy double bass kicks (Frederik Ehmke) and screaming power chords on the lead track “Creation of Reality.” It’s a METAL ROCK infusion right into your veins as your heart can’t help but pick up its pace. It’s not just the physical capability of these Germans that is impressive; it’s the simple, yet extremely powerful hook of “Truth is all around” that echoes throughout the song. You’ll walk away with it stuck in your head, and that’s a good thing.
“The Riddle” is the eighth track off of “Master Creator” and carries a different feel from the rest of the album. It’s easy to note the struggle between good and evil in the bounty of Sinbreed’s lyrics; however, in this song, the struggle is more existential as the subject can’t figure out who he is. Musically, the use of minors and different chord progressions, along with the synth on the keyboards (Flo Laurin), create a darker feel, if possible, than the rest of the album.
Sinbreed’s title track “Master Creator” carries the same style of the bands powerhouse rock with in your face speed and intense power chords, but gives shine to the guitarist as he shreds those chord progressions and crafts some intense solos reminiscent of the great Dio. The song’s lyrics outline an internal struggle of good and evil and the realization that you create your own fate. Meaningful and deep lyrics are not just a one-off on this album. Their lyrics comb through many good and evil struggles and even offer ways to deal with them; you might just learn something about yourself listening to Sinbreed!
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the powerful vocals of Herbie Langhans. The guy sounds like a cross between Dio and David Draimen (Disturbed) with at least their level of intensity. Herbie nails the POWER of Power Metal Rock with the gravely and intense vocals reminiscent of a drill sergeant from the Vietnam era. Please send me a bottle of whatever is in the water in Germany, these guys know how to rock, so don’t miss them!
