The Diamond Ballroom is well known for their outstanding concerts they put on in the Oklahoma City area. The staff is always friendly and will do whatever they have to do to help make the concert experience as great as possible. The guys from security are always on top of keeping everybody safe and quickly respond if needed. Today at the “Starset” show was no different.
The show started with the first opening band “A Brilliant Lie”, originated from Orlando Florida. The band has released their new EP “Threads: Weaver” on March 29th 2019. These guys were a lot of fun to watch by putting on a high energy performance and the vocalist Tara Lightfoot was quite comical getting the audience motivated to participate while singing “Africa” by “Toto”.

Next up was the band Hyde. Hyde is a multi-talented artist from Wakayama Japan. He is a musician, singer, songwriter, producer and actor who was invited by “Starset” to tour the USA as their opening band. Hyde’s full name is Hideto Takarai but he is exclusively known by “Hyde”. In February 6th 2019 Hyde’s new single “Zipang”, and on March 20th 2019 his 12th single “Mad Qualia” were released. The “Mad Qualia” was the main theme for the Japanese version of the Capcom video game Devil May Cry 5. “Hyde” also released a new album with the name “Anti”, on May 3rd of 2019. This was only the digital version and he released the CD version in June of 2019. The band caught my attention the second they entered the stage with their unique costumes. Their performance was outstanding and made an unforgettable impression. Of course the songs performed tonight were off their new album “Anti”. They started out with the song “Who’s Gonna Save US” which shows off his soft as well as his stronger vocals. The show continued with “Fake Divine”, another song that is hauntingly beautiful and catches your attention quickly. He continued with “Sick” which is a little harder in rock but it also grabs you and pulls you in, “Hyde” is so full of talent that it is crazy. Next he played “Another Moment” followed by “Mad Qualia” and before we knew it, the last song “Ordinary World” was playing. Every song of “Hyde” has something special and it just grabs your attention and doesn’t let go until the last note is played. He is not just ordinary; he is “Extraordinary!”
Set List:
1) Who’s Gonna Save Us
2) Face Divine
3) Sick
4) Another Moment
5) Mad Qualia

The evening continued with more amazing bands. “Palisades” was next in line. The band originated in Iselin, New Jersey and is a post-hardcore band. They released their LA tested album “Erase the Pain” on December 28th in 2018. Of course we got to listen to many songs which are off their newest album. It started out with “War”, “Shed My Skin” then “Fade” which is one of my personal favorites, followed by “Fragile Bones”, “Vendetta” and “Erase the Pain”. Those are all amazing songs with great beats and the perfect amount of rock. Another song that caught my attention was “Ways to Disappear”. This song was made for people with anxiety and if you listen to the words you will see that this song is very deep and packed with emotions. I must say there was not one dull moment. The energy on stage was exhilarating and the band took full charge of the show, the songs were great with soft vocals and electronic parts mixed in, the songs also had harsher vocals and lots of catchy parts that keep you focused on the music. I promise you will want to check these guys out if they are in your area and take the time to look them up on YouTube and watch some of their videos!
Set List:
1) War
2) Shed My Skin
3) Better Chemicals
4) Through Hell
5) Fade
6) Fragile Bones
7) Ways To Disappear
8) Vendetta

And now the moment had come for “Starset.” an American rock band from Columbus Ohio. A large white sheet was hanging from the ceiling blocking the audience’s view of the stage. Smoke started to fill the Diamond Ballroom and images started to display on the sheet while music was starting to come thru the PA system. What we saw on the screen was part of the introduction of “BMI” which stands for Brain Machine Interface. Pleasure, contentment, happiness, gratification-all of this and more is possible with the BMI according to the New West and New East cooperatives. We were able to be part of some of the experiences by placing three glowing stickers on our forehead and using the Starset App to catch a glimpse of the wonders of the New West Augmented Reality. The Screen in front of the stage was dropped and the audience started cheering while “Starset” took the spots on stage. It felt like we all got launched into the future. It was a great show and the band knew exactly how to keep the audiences undivided attention. We had so much talent gathered tonight and the interaction between the Cello, Violin, keyboard, electric guitar, bass and drums mixed with electronic music was a perfect combination with Dustin Bates amazing vocals to make anyone take notice.
Set List:
1) A Brief History Of The Future
2) Manifest
3) Monster
4) Echo
5) Where The Skies End
6) Ricochet
7) Kashmir (Led Zeppelin Cover)
8) Telekinetic
9) Perfect Machine
10) Trials
11) Carnivore
12) Thunderstruck (AC/DC)
