Sublime With Rome

Sublime--25What a way to end your month, meet with friends and head to Sleeptrain Amphitheater in Chula Vista, California for an amazing night of festive music.  Tonight’s show will be featuring some brilliant music by artist Tribal Seeds and Dirty Heads and ending with our featured artist Sublime with Rome. Check back with Backstage360.com next month for our show review of Tribal Seeds and Dirty Heads.  This review will focus on our veteran American ska punk reggae-rock band from Long Beach, California known as Sublime.

Sublime with Rome is bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Josh Freese, with singer/guitarist Roman “Rome” Ramirez replacing Bradley Nowell, Sublime’s original lead singer who died from a heroin overdose in 1996.  Rome is no stranger to the San Diego area and even stated that he was a barista at a Starbucks in Oceanside.  The band changed its name to “Sublime with Rome” after legal action was taken by Nowell’s estate.  The band kicked off the show with “Date Rape” from the 1992 album “40 Oz. to Freedom” which instantly got the crowd excited.  Then let’s just chill with the song “Smoke two joints” also from the same album.  The night just kept getting better and better as Rome won over some die hard Sublime fans and created other new fans.  We were all having a great time, and when I realized that I knew over half the songs it made me feel like I was part of the culture that this band helped pioneer.  The crowd loved every song and all the women in the audience were swaying to the hypnotic groove that the songs seemed to illuminate in them.  This concert had me searching for all of Sublimes albums when I returned home.  They played all the Hit Songs and I can honestly say that I am a fan for Life.
