It’s shaping up to be a superstar lineup for the Toyota Summer Concert Series at the 2020 San Diego County Fair! From Train and The Flaming Lips to TLC and The Isley Brothers, it’s time to grab your seats when tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ticketmaster.com.

This year’s Fair theme is all about superheroes, real community heroes and action-packed fun! The 2020 San Diego County Fair will feature 27 nights of entertainment on the Corona Grandstand Stage June 5-July 5.

You’ll be ready to “Twist and Shout” with The Isley Brothers and “Sail Away” with Styx (on sale Feb. 1). Get your boots stompin’ for Martina McBride and sing along with chart-toppers Train, TLC, Cheap Trick, War and The Flaming Lips. The Spanish rock sounds of Hombres G and Argentinian rock trio Los Enanitos Verdes round out the Fair’s just-announced concerts for the Toyota Summer Concert Series.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … a grandstand lineup that’s sure to pack a punch!

ABOUT THE JUST-ANNOUNCED GRANDSTAND ARTISTS:

June 5: The Isley Brothers – First formed in the early ‘50s, The Isley Brothers are considered one of the most  important and influential groups of the last half-century. While they were raised primarily on gospel music, the family band went on to experiement and record under the genres of doo-wop, R&B, soul, Motown, funk, disco, pop and hip-hop. From “Twist and Shout” to the Grammy-winning “It’s Your Thing” and 2001’s chart-topper “Contagious,” The Isley Brothers have enjoyed one of the most diverse careers in popular music.

June 6: TLC – Three letters sum up this beloved chart-topping female group – TLC. Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes created immortal anthems such as “Waterfalls,” “Creep,” “No Scrubs,” and “Unpretty,” to name a few, as well as sales of 70 million records worldwide, four Grammy Awards, four multi-platinum albums, 10 Top 10 singles and four No. 1 singles.

June 7: Hombres G – The group is one of the most influential Spanish Rock bands since its inception in 1983. Their popularity spans from Spain to Latin America (mainly Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela), as well as with the Spanish-speaking population in the US and Portugal. They are widely considered one of Spain’s most prominent pop groups of the 1980s and early 1990s with a sound influenced by the early Beatles.

June 10: Styx – Styx draws from over four decades of hits ranging from “Lady” and “Come Sail Away” to “Blue Collar Man” and “Renegade.” These six musicians have committed to rocking audiences far and wide by entering their second decade of averaging more than 100 shows each year. They are best known for melding hard rock guitar balanced with acoustic guitar, synthesizers mixed with acoustic piano and upbeat tracks with power ballads. Styx has had 16 Top 40 singles in the U.S., eight of which hit the Top 10.

June 11: Martina McBride – Country singer Martina McBride got her start opening for Garth Brooks in the 1990s and quickly became one of the most successful female country singers of all time. She had a string of major hit singles on the Billboard country chart and occasionally on the adult contemporary chart. Five of these singles went to No. 1 on the country chart between 1995 and 2001. She is called the “Celine Dion of country music” after she was recognized for her soprano singing range. McBride has received a number of awards, including the Country Music Association Award (CMA) for Female Vocalist of the Year, with her fourth win in 2004.

 June 12: Train – This multi-Grammy Award and Billboard award-winning band from San Francisco has had 14 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 list since the release of their debut self-titled album. The tumbling wordplay of “Meet Virginia” gave them their first radio hit and 2001’s “Drops Of Jupiter” broke them to multi-platinum status thanks to the double-Grammy Award-winning title song that spent 10 months in the Top 40. The group won another Grammy Award in 2011 for their global hit “Hey Soul Sister,” the No. 1 best-selling smash and most downloaded single of 2010. They’ve sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.

June 16: The Flaming Lips – Their sound contains multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements while their lyrics include elements of space rock, including unusual song and album titles such as “Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles” and “Yeah, I Know It’s a Drag… But Wastin’ Pigs Is Still Radical.” They are acclaimed for their elaborate live shows which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, massive amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne’s signature man-sized plastic bubble that he uses to traverse the audience. In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die.”

June 18: Cheap Trick – Since the 70s they’ve been blending elements of pop, punk (and even metal) in catchy tunes that are instantly recognizable. With timeless classics including “I Want You to Want Me,” “Surrender,” and the 80s lighter-waving favorite, “The Flame,”  Cheap Trick is a musical institution. Anyone familiar with Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” will note that Cheap Trick wrote and performed the theme song.

The popularly of their most current release, “The Latest,” continues their rein as one of the most coveted bands of all time. Cheap Trick is still performing 35 years strong.

June 23: War – Formed in 1969 in Long Beach, Calif., American funk band War has been entertaining fans for more than four decades. Among their many hits are “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” and “Low Rider.” Formed in 1969, War is a musical crossover band that fuses elements of rock, funk, jazz, Latin, rhythm and blues and reggae. Their album “The World Is a Ghetto” was Billboard’s best-selling album of 1973. In 2009 the group was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and became a steady concert draw on the nostalgia group tour circuit and at international festivals.

 July 5: Los Enanitos Verdes – This Argentinian pop/rock band was formed in the late ’70s by singer/bassist Marciano Cantero, guitarist Felipe Staiti, and drummer Daniel Piccolo. In the mid-1980s, guitarist Sergio Embroni and keyboardist Tito Dávila joined in, recording Los Enanitos Verdes’ first album. After successfully touring Central America, they expanded to North American venues and later recorded 1998’s “Tracción Acústica” and 1999’s Grammy-nominated “Nectar.”
