Trivium – The Sin And The Sentence

I am excited to be at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City tonight to review Trivium. The Diamond Ballroom is a place you want to hang out and enjoy music. It’s a relaxed, easy going and fun atmosphere and no matter if you love country, rock or metal, this place is perfect for it. The venue filled up fast and by just simply looking around, I was in the middle of what you clearly would call a metal crowd.

Light The Torch and Avatar are the opening acts for tonight and I am excited to tell you that you will be able to read about Avatar in a separate article. So make sure you look for it!!!

When Light the Torch made their appearance on stage the audience started chanting “HOWARD, HOWARD, HOWARD” which is a reference to Light the Torches vocalist Howard Jones. Howard is well known as the Ex lead singer of Killswitch Engage, which he was a part of from 2002-2011. He then joined Light the Torch in 2012 and has been with the band ever since. Light the Torch has a great style of music. You have the metal riffs but then you also have Howards voice, which pierces the air with its clarity and range. Listening to the words of the songs you can tell that there is a lot of meaning in them. I personally liked the band a lot and I am not a Metal Head type of person so therefore that should say a lot about them.

Up next was Avatar who deserves their own article and will be featured in this issue elsewhere.

And now, the almighty Trivium takes center stage.  Trivium was formed in 1999 and has been very successful  with eight albums released and over 20 singles. Tonight we are witnessing Matt Heafy on lead vocals and guitar, lead guitarist Corey King Beaulieu, Paolo Francesco Gregoletto on Bass and Alex Bent on drums. I can honestly say Matt Heafy has mastered the growling together with sticking his tongue out. Besides the growling, Matt also was able to show off his great vocals throughout the evening. He had grabbed the audience’s full attention and they supported his performance by putting their hands up in the air, head banging and screaming for him. Some of the people in the diamond ball room even started crowd surfing. I felt sorry for our photographer who was being bombarded in the pit by bodies constantly flowing over the rail.  The band played many songs from their new album The Sin And The Sentence which you really should go and check out. It was a great show and we were lucky to have the lead singer Matt Heafy be able to perform for us since shortly after the show he had to leave the tour due to his wife expecting twins. On behalf of Backstage360.com I would like to say Congratulations to the expecting parents!
