One of the hottest tours of 2018 is the Judas Priest/ Deep Purple Tour. As a fan of both bands this was a smorgasbord of the greatest music of several generations. I became a huge fan of Deep Purple from the beginning with hits like Kentucky Woman, Hush, Smoke on the Water and many many more. Over the years the band changed lineups several times but the one thing that stayed constant was the great musicianship. Lead singer Ian Gilan, Ian Pace, (Drums) Roger Glover (Bass) and the addition of Steve Morse (Lead Guitar) among others just solidified an already great band of brothers. I was very surprised of how great Ian’s voice still sounds and his delivery was spot on. The guitar work of Steve Morse is as always, sensational and the rhythm section made up of Glover on bass and Paice on drums made the whole thing amazing. Rounded out by Don Airey on keys this was as close as it gets to the original band.
Here is the set list of this concert:
Highway Star
Play Video
Pictures of Home
Bloodsucker
Strange Kind of Woman
Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming
Uncommon Man
Lazy
Knocking at Your Back Door
Keyboard Solo Play Video Perfect Strangers
Space Truckin’
Smoke on the Water
You will notice they kick you right in the teeth right from the very onset with the Iconic song “Highway Star” and just kept going. Of course missing Jon Lord and Richie Blackmore from the original lineup this was a great show for die hard Purple fans like me and a few thousand other fans. If you get a chance to catch this show before the tour is done you will enjoy it as much as I did. On behalf of our magazine we would like to thank The bands for allowing us to review and, also a special thanks go out to Live Nation for having us.
