CARVING AN ICON
The debut album of the Norwegian dark metal powerhouse VIPER SOLFA, featuring a stellar line-up of elite Norwegian names, including Trail Of Tears mastermind and founder Ronny Thorsen, Morfeus of Mayhem and Limbonic Art fame, Sphinx (Ram-Zet, Eternal Tears of Sorrow) as well as former Trail of Tears members Endre Moe and Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow.
VIPER SOLFA emerged in 2013 as an idea from Trail Of Tears singer and front man Ronny Thorsen.
After nearly two decades of albums, world-wide touring, as well as guest appearances for Tristania and Blood Red Throne, the time seemed right to head into different musical territories. Thorsen was quickly joined by fellow Trail Of Tears members Endre Moe on bass (Dimension F3H, Cutthroat), and drummer
Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow (Sphere). Not long after, the three of them found themselves in the creative company of Morfeus (Mayhem, Limbonic Art, Dimension F3H), who immediately took the role of main composer as well as handling guitar, keyboard and orchestration duties. With the material at hand, it became obvious that the sound needed a diverse, intense and highly skilled female voice and after
auditioning over two dozen singers from around the globe, it is with an extreme sense of excitement that the band is complete with Miriam „Sphinx“ Renvåg (Ram-Zet) as the final piece of the puzzle.
With a line-up consisting of established and well-known members from vast musical backgrounds, the result is a merciless musical beast combining the best of the individual member’s musical history.
Nearly a year has been spent crafting the band`s innovative brand of extreme metal, or as the band so fittingly labels it: „Poison Music“. The debut album, entitled „Carving An Icon“, is already recorded and with a newly secured world-wide recording contract with Germany’s Massacre Records, the band is now looking to unleash the material upon the masses and plans are in motion to destroy stages around the world!
