What The Press Is Saying: BACK TO THE BLUES By Beyond 1969
“The quality of musicianship fairly leaps out of the ‘grooves’ of Back To The Blues. Four musicians with a stellar history coming together to make an album of stunning Blues, full of stories and emotions. The playing throughout is exceptional with stunning bass work from (Tony) Delisio and powerful drumming from Bryan Caudle – the groove that they create is palpable. The keyboards add texture and counterpoint while Forst’s vocals are throaty and emotive – very reminiscent of Danny Bryant and Johnny Winter – with some fine guitar work.”
“Fronted by Blues/Rock Hall of Fame inductee Tom ‘The Suit’ Forst, Back To The Blues, whose songs were written by Forst and (Tony) Delisio, use passion as a muse. Love, loss, laughter, lust, and loneliness paint the pictures on the album as “Comin’ Back to the Blues” tells the tale of world traveling, finding the best love back at home.” THE ALTERNATE ROOT
“If guys like Johnny Winter and Joe Bonamassa play your kind of blues, well, Beyond 1969 does, too. Back To The Blues does it with an Allman Brothhers Band kind of feel that’s quite satisfying. Smartly produced… musicianship is exquisite and perhaps even a bit understated, allowing the words to carry the stories. This is nice; real nice.”
“Feel So Good To Be So Bad’ is a rock ballad where the keys shine throughout, while vocalist Tony Delisio delivers the lyrics convincingly. Tom Forst’s guitar work stands out on ‘Consolation Man.’ If you enjoy original blues-rock there should be something of interest to you on Back To The Blues.’
“Strong instrumentals mixed with solid, emotional songs drive a solid modern blues rock effort.”
KENTUCKIANA BLUES SOCIETY
Back To The Blues is a ten-song recording featuring Blues/Rock Hall Of Fame inductee/songwriter, vocalist, guitarist Tom Forst (The Suit); award-winning vocalist, bassist, and songwriter, Tony Delisio; keyboardist extraordinaire, Jeff Bousfield; and premier percussionist, Bryan Caudle. Recorded at award-winningHorizon Music Group, Back To The Blues is a modern Blues/Rock album in the tradition of Johnny Winter and Joe Bonamassa — indeed, the late Paul Nelson (Grammy winner/touring member of Johnny WInter’s Band) produced a prior album, On Fire, with Tom. Forst’s Beyond 1969 band members have shared the stage with The Marshall Tucker Band, George T. Gregory, Styx, The Edgar Winter Band, and The Rhinestones – just to name a few. “Tony and I wrote these songs about passion – love, loss, lust, loneliness & laughter,” reveals Forst. “Every lyric and note tells a story – one that all humans will relate to.”
Beyond 1969 was created to celebrate the best music of the iconic years of the hippie generation. The band has revisited and re-imagined the best songs of the era. Keeping true to the Woodstock years, Beyond 1969 also writes, records and performs original material.
