What The Media Is Saying About Back To The Blues by Beyond 1969
“Fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Forst aka The Suit, this quartet invokes the glory days of album-oriented rock with this ten-track all-original record….Back to The Blues is a solid album from start to finish.  Worth checking out.”
                                                 PHILLY CHEEZE BLUES
Back To the Blues is a wonderful trip by Tom ‘The Suit’ Forst and three road-tested musicians totaling around two hundred years of playing and performing…like the sounds of Johnny Winter? Savoy Brown ? How about Electric Flag? Tom Forst and Beyond 1969 are out there keeping that type of music alive, doing it in their own way….an excellent piece of work, highly recommended.”
                             BLUE MONDAY MONTHLY

Back To The Blues is good old-fashioned roots-blues from the seventies…well done, with a blues gem like “Consolation Man,” or the very roots-y “Goin’ Down” (acoustic), and the very bluesy rock “When It All Falls Down.”

                                 BLUES MAGAZINE

Back To The Blues is an independent release that rocks hard and leaves you wanting more…The album comes to a close with “When It All Falls Down,” and the band goes out rocking. They’ve saved their energy for the closer. (Guitarist Tom) Forst handles the vocals with style and shows why he’s in the Connecticut Blues Hall Of Fame.”

                                   SUBSTACK

“Admittedly, the band’s name, Beyond 1969, first peaked my interest in hearing their music. I found that my investment in listening was well-rewarded. Every member of the group is a pro at rocking the blues and Tom ‘The Suit’ Forst knows how to pull off hard work without even breaking a sweat! Be sure not to miss the (almost) title track, ‘Comin’ Back To the Blues.” This is what good music is all about!”
                    BLUES DELUXE RADIO (SYNDICATED)
“Back To The Blues is smartly produced and each song has a story to tell.  Tom Forst (vocals, guitar) says “(singer/ bassist) Tony and I wrote these songs about passion- love, loss, lust, loneliness and laughter…the musicianship is exquisite and perhaps even a bit understated, allowing the words to carry the stories.  This is nice; real nice.”
                                           THE ROCK DOCTOR
“Performing all original material, this talented blues/rock band of four offers stories about lost love, intense need, and many of the themes that have driven blues music for over a century.”
                                SOUTHLAND BLUES
Back To The Blues by Beyond 1969 is a solid blues rocker…blues-soaked “It’s My Own Damn Fault” really gives guitarist Tom ‘The Suit’ Forst a chance to grind it out on guitar and his vocals are just right. With warm organ work by Bousfield, leading bass work by Delisio and tight percussion by Caudle, this track is a sure winner.”
                            BMANS BLUES REPORT

Back To The Blues, recorded at award-winning Horizon Music Group, is a modern Blues/Rock album in the tradition of Johnny Winter and Joe Bonamassa — Indeed, the late Paul Nelson (Grammy winner/touring member of Johnny WInter’s Band) produced a prior album, On Fire, with Tom. Forst’s Beyond 1969 band members have shared the stage with The Marshall Tucker Band, George T. Gregory, Styx, The Edgar Winter Band, and The Rhinestones – just to name a few.
“Tony and I wrote these songs about passion – love, loss, lust, loneliness & laughter,” reveals Forst. “Every lyric and note tells a story – one that all humans will relate to.”
Beyond 1969 was created to celebrate the best music of the iconic years of the hippie generation. The band has revisited and re- imagined the best songs of the era.
